What the Tank Sizes Tell You

The two tank figures are the most useful numbers on this page, because together they describe how long the trailer runs before anyone has to do anything.

The 200 gallon fresh tank supplies both the flushing system and the sinks. The 440 gallon waste tank has to hold everything that fresh tank dispenses, which is why the waste side is more than twice the size. Waste tanks are also charged before delivery, meaning a quantity of fresh water and deodorizer goes in first so the tank is never running dry against solids, and that charge occupies part of the capacity from the start.

Sinks are the variable people underestimate. Flushing is predictable and brief. Handwashing is neither, and at a long event with plenty of guests the sinks can account for a surprising share of what leaves the fresh tank.

Whether the tanks carry a booking without servicing depends on the headcount and the hours, which is why we ask for both. For multiday bookings, and for unusually long days at high numbers, we schedule servicing rather than leaving it to be discovered at the wrong moment, and it is priced into the quote.

Reading the 350 Guest Figure Properly

A recommended guest count is only meaningful alongside a duration, which is why the better operators publish theirs as a number of guests across a number of hours rather than a number on its own.

Treat 350 as a comfortable figure for an event of ordinary length and intensity. A ceremony and a two hour drinks reception at that headcount is well inside it. A wedding that starts at four and finishes at midnight, with the same 350 people and a bar running throughout, is a different event wearing the same number, and it is worth pricing a second unit before you decide.
